GETING TESTED FOR HIV

Making the decision to get tested isn’t easy, but it’s the right thing to do. When you know your status you can take charge of your personal health. If you feel that you have been exposed to HIV and would like to know your HIV status, stop by Kumukahi’s office for a free and confidential HIV test. Kumukahi offers Rapid HIV Testing with results available in 20 minutes and personal counseling with one of our HIV prevention specialists. We’ll work with you to help you understand how to protect yourself and others. We’ll talk about HIV Prevention Tools, like condoms and PrEP, and provide you a referral (if needed) for other STD screenings with a community partner.

 

What if I Test Negative?

If you test HIV Negative, we will give you access to tools that can help you stay Negative. We recommend routine testing every three months so that you are up-to-date with your HIV status. Please call us and ask if you could benefit from routine HIV testing.

 

What if I Test Positive?

If you test HIV Positive, we are here to support you and guide you through the next few steps: confirmatory testing, diagnosis, and access to healthcare. Being HIV Positive will not keep you from living a full life, as long as you know your status and begin treatment. Learn more about how HIHAF can help you here.

 

Get Screened for HCV and other STI’s
In addition to HIV testing, Kumukahi also offers rapid testing for the Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), Syphilis, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea. Other STI testing is available to eligible clients, based on risk assessments by staff.
